It’s just really, heart skippingly, raptures of joy, eyes wide open, melting into a pool of decadence, delicious. This is the 3rd Monbazillac from Bruno, a man who – critically acclaimed - makes some of the best sweet wine in the entire world. Parker has scored their “Madame” 100pts on more than one occasion and has regular comparative tastings with d’Yquem. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not necessarily a big fan of the bloke, but he’s certainly drunk a lot more of these wines than most. Anyway, this is the kind of dessert wine that makes you embarrassed for ever saying “it’s just difficult to find the right time to open one”… Orange marmalade, nectarine, lime juice and caramelised pecans; there’s genuine acidity, and it’s straight up going to blow any of your other options for “house sweety” out of the water this Christmas.

Drink with Christmas Pud, of course.
